LOOK AT OUR BRILLIANT TODDLER TODDLE !

We had the most fantastic time today doing our toddler toddle. Thanks to all our fantastic families there were lots and lots of adults running with children and making the whole event fun. Look at the photo's and see if you can spot yourselves.

We hope you enjoyed the toddle as much as we did. Remember to return your sponsor forms so that your child will be entered into the prize draw.
Thank you all for your fantastic support.

SUMMER IS HERE

The Summer Term has started and this terms topic for FS1 is called "Changes".
In this topic the children have the opportunity to explore growth and change. We are already observing the life cycle of the frog, our tadpoles are doing really well this year. After half term we will be pupating butterflies and planting seeds. Children will also have the opportunity to consider their own growth and change through considering their own changes since they were babies.
This term also sees the start of the Jolly Phonics. We are already well into the second book and the children have made a flying start, especially those who are doing their homework every evening - you're going to be brilliant readers! Just look at some of the activities we have already been enjoying this term.

Singing with microphones

Playing with all the transport equipment

Thinking about mothers and babies, and how the animals change when they grow up.

Using construction equipment

Making and playing in dens

Role play outdoors
We've also been using shaving foam to make marks in this week. Swirling and writing with their hands and fingers. We try to encourage the children to make anti-clockwise movements with their fingers in the foam. This is very good preparation for correct formation of letters as they start to write.

WORLD BOOK DAY

March 7th has been World Book Day and we've all had a fabulous time! Mrs Critchley, Mrs Winstanley and Miss Jones dressed up as the three bears. The children dressed up as their favourite character's from traditional tales. We had pigs, bears, pirates and the occassional Batman. The children brought books to swap and everyone went home with a book that they chose themselves. Thank you parents for all the hard work that you put into their costumes and for being so generous with the book swap.

We had princesses and the Gruffalo's Child having snacks

We watched the three bears on the big screen

We had special stories in the quiet room

We all enjoyed looking at each others' costumes

There was a ladybird drawing!

Princesses glueing

Pirates building ships

Buzz Lightyear even made an appearance
A good day was had by all!!

Look What We've Been Doing!

In Foundation Stage One this week, we have been looking at colours and finding out what happens when we mix them together. We used powder paints (blue, red and white) to make new colours as well as different shades of the same colour.

Can you remember how to make colours lighter and darker?
What happened when we mixed the blue and the red paints together?

Here are some of you finding out the answers to these questions:

Look at the different shades of blue I have made!

Lots of different shades here. I can also see pink and purple. How did you do that?

We had to mix the paint in the same order each time: Water, sponge, powder, pallette. The left to right sequence will also help us when we learn to write.

Did you enjoy our paint mixing focus this week? It doesn't have to be just powder paints that you use for mixing colours. Have a try at mixing colours using the poster paints and block paints too. See how many different colours you can make.

Here's a colour mixing game for you to play. Just click on the picture below to take you to the game. You might need a grown up to help you to select 'Mixing Room' once you're inside the colour mix cottage.
